Ask Me Anything for Zombies?

According to my iTunes Connect stats over 28,000 of you have copies of Ask Me Anything for Teens. I thought it was about time that I let you in on a little secret. In February of 2012 I uploaded an app to the app store that I wrote with some of my friends called Ask Me Anything for Criminals.  It AMA FCrimiTunesIconwas kind of a spoof and we were planning to release it for April Fool’s Day but of course it got rejected by Apple for being too stupid. My friends and I were at a retreat together and we literally stayed up all night making up these ridiculous questions and categories. We had a section for pirates, ninjas, criminals and zombies. By the end of the retreat we had almost 400 questions and were very excited to see the app released and find out if anyone else would enjoy our bizarre sense of humour.

When apple rejected the app I lost interest and decided to keep working on my regular apps but since that time the popularity of zombies has grown. As I speak to more and more teenagers I realize that some of them are absolutely obsessed with zombies, watching zombie tv shows, zombie movies even reading zombie comics and novels. So I decided to dig up that old program from 2012 and see if I can’t throw some of those questions into my most popular paid app, Ask Me Anything for Teens.

Here’s the thing… I didn’t tell apple about this category, because its a secret. If apple finds out they will program reject my binary and I will have to remove this category from my app so… don’t tell apple, please. Ask Me Anything for Zombies is embedded in your copy of Ask Me Anything for Teens 2.0, here’s how to get to it.

First you will need to find the menu button at the bottom right of the opening screen.

Zombie Tutorial.001

This button is on every one of my apps. It gets you from the main screen to the categories screen. Surprisingly many users have never used this button and find great joy when they suddenly discover it.

After you press this button you will be taken to the first menu screen. On this screen you can choose categories, the about menu or instructions. Choose the categories button. The screen you should be on looks like this. The tricky part is that I have made the button for Ask Me AnyZombie Tutorial.002thing for Zombies extremely small. If you tap anywhere on the top right hand of the screen you should be able to find the invisible button that will take you to Ask Me Anything for Zombies.

It looks like this. Zombie Tutorial.003

In it you will find some great questions that you might want to ask a zombie if you ever meet one. Hopefully, this new category will just make you laugh. It was designed for your amusement. If you laugh then I am happy.

Have a great day.

Ask Me Anything for Adults 2.0 is available on the app store. I am very excited for this new release. It is now a fully Universal app. It includes over 700 questions designed specifically for adults.

I’ve given it a bold new look and made it accessible on all current apple devices. I hope you enjoy this new version and thank you for your continued support of Ask Me Anything Apps.

This new version of Ask Me Anything for Adults was built from the ground up to be a Universal App. I literally started from scratch. I opened up Xcode and started a new project.

I built the entire thing like that, every picture, every button, everything. I found with Ask Me Anything for Teens that trying to work with the old project created too many issues with old code, and old UI elements. Finally, while building Ask Me Anything for Teens 2.0 I ended up just building a new project and starting everything from the beginning again. I am determined to do that with every one of my existing apps on the app store. Start new projects and build the best app I can with my limited knowledge of developing and design.

One more thing, I went through every line of code and stripped out every unnecessary piece of code including many Ask Me Anything Apps ads that I had embedded in my former projects. When you tap the screen you will only see questions not annoying little text based ads for my other apps. I have found that Ask Me Anything App users have been very loyal to the brand, many have multiple Ask Me Anything Apps on their devices there is no need to pester them with ads.

I have already begun the redesign of Ask Me Anything for Couples. I’m considering some new categories for the app and I am excited about the possibilities that this redesign presents.

I am excited for you to experience Ask Me Anything for Adults 2.0 and I hope that it enhances your relationships. As always, thank you for the Downloads.

Can talking heal a world gone mad?

All around me teenagers are wondering what is going on in our world. They see bombings in peaceful places, shootings, great tragedies caused by people who just seem to want to cause pain and torment to innocent people. Right now, in our world, there are wars being fought that affect everything from the value of the dollar to the price of our oil. In this global economy we are truly experiencing a butterfly effect of sorts on an everyday basis. When conflict happens on one side of the world there are repercussions everywhere. This is not necessarily natural disasters, or cosmic disturbances but real people hurting real people. It’s ludicrous.

I see a great deal of fear and anxiety amongst my students. They see the threats from North Korea and they know their lives are being affected by forces outside of their own control. This new world many of them are born into seems to be balanced precariously on the edge of a knife.

On a personal level my students are also seeing a great deal of pain and tragedy in their own lives and the lives of their friends. They hear of story after story of bullying, cutting, suicides and pain. The students I work with are asking all kinds of questions. Why are people like this? Why doesn’t someone do something? How can anyone stop this nonsense?

Many of my students have watched the breakup of their parents marriages, have seen hearts broken. They have known victims of bullies who could no longer take the pressure and finally just end it all.

How does one change the course of a broken and tragic world?

Michael Jackson challenged us all to start with the man in the mirror. I would like us to take one step further… start talking to the people next to you. No matter who they are. Human beings need communication, we need to speak to one another, to have a conversation. We need to move beyond status updates, blog posts and twitter feeds. Ultimately, we need to move from carrying on a textual relationship and move into the realm of actually seeing people face to face, eyeball to eyeball.

It’s a scary world, but all it needs is a little conversation. We need to be able to listen to one another, and learn from each other. Less hate and more awkward questions. Less pain and more laughter. Less eyes on our phones and more eyes looking into the eyes of those who are hurting.

Can talking heal a world gone mad? I think so.
